      Car-Bomb Explodes in Madrid.

      A car containing 35 pounds of explosives exploded in Madrid on Wednesday, thirty minutes after a warning from a caller claiming to be a member of the Basque national liberation organization ETA, local news reported. The car, parked outside a department store, lightly injured four policemen who came to the scene after learning of the warning, and two homeless people who had been sleeping outdoors. An anonymous caller to the fire department said the bomb would go off in 30 minutes and claimed responsibility on behalf of Euskadi Ta Askatasuna, said an Interior Ministry official. The caller also said the car should not be moved because the the bomb would go off. The car-bomb detonated at 6:30 a.m., 15 minutes after the warning. Government spokesman Pio Cabanillas said the receive three phone calls at 6:10 from the same cell phone to the Spanish delegation office in Madrid, to 091 (emergency) and to the fire department, government spokesman, warning a car-bomb will explode in front of the Corte Ingles. Cabanillas said security cameras scanning the area had filmed the car being left at Plaza del Callao Wednesday. The stoles white Renault contained an estimated 35 pounds of explosives. The blast gutted the entrance of the department store, destroying a concrete awning over the doorway and shattering windows all the way up the building's nine stories.
